
An avid runner since his teenage years, Bob can be found pounding the pavement year-round on the riverfront trails of TrackTown USA, otherwise known as Eugene, Oregon. His primary commitment is to encourage and inspire readers of all ages through producing and distributing trustworthy, biblically sound books that emphasize God’s grace and proclaim Jesus Christ as the answer to every human need. Today Hawkins continues to oversee the company’s focused publishing operations and provides fresh vision for the organization’s loyal and dedicated staff. Before becoming president, Bob spent his first decade in Christian publishing as a marketing director. Under Bob’s leadership, the company has published more than 3,000 new books on a wide range of topics geared mainly for lay-oriented Christian audiences.

Harvest House books gained a reputation of being affordable, trustworthy and practical by meeting people’s most current needs in three major categories: self-help (relationships, family, Christian living), Bible resources (Bibles, Bible studies, topical studies), and full color gift and children’s books featuring top licensed artists.

The company publishes more than 150 new books each year and offers a strong backlist of more than 1,200 titles.

By the late 1980s, Harvest House was among the top ten publishers of Christian literature. Within two years, five of its titles had sold over 100,000 copies and one title was on the best seller list for eight months in a row. to publish books to help the hurts of people. Harvest House Publishers was conceived in 1974 with just five titles and a dream in the heart of its founder, Bob Hawkins, Sr.
